![]() ![]() ![]() With the UMS Main Panel open, click the Navigation/Share settings tab. By default it will simply share ' all drives ', but it's normally better to limit the shared folders to just the ones containing your media. Follow these steps, and once you've configured it you will be looking at the UMS main panel: From this main panel you can now decide which folders you want to share across your home network. Step 1: Setting up Universal Media Server Now that you've got Universal Media Server on your Mac, open it up from your Applications folder and it will begin to walk you through the configuration wizard. Once it is downloaded, open up the file and drag the Universal Media Server app to the Applications folder on your Mac. Once you've got Java installed, simply go to the and download the Mac version by clicking the Apple logo. Before you begin, however, you'll want to make sure your Mac has Java 6 installed on it, as this is required for Universal Media Server to run. ![]() OPTION 1: UNIVERSAL MEDIA SERVER AND THE MEDIA PLAYER APP Universal Media Server is free to download and use, and only takes a few minutes to set up. As of December however the Plex app is now free to use on PS4, giving us another great streaming option. This was always an option, but one that came at a price premium. If you fancy something with a bit more flare, we also have the option of using Plex. This simple app allows us to choose which folders we want to share – and then, we can easily see these folders on the PS4 and play any media files located within them. In order to stream media files from your Mac to your PS4, we're first going to download and install a application on your Mac called Universal Media Streamer.
